Drum Handling Equipment by the leading independent specialists
Who needs drum handling equipment?
The safe handling of heavy drums - often containing hazardous chemicals - has been a major problem in industry for many years. Increased legislation, in particular the HSE Manual Handling Regulations and European ATEX Directives – including DSEAR - means that failure to meet these requirements can result in increased insurance costs, fines, even imprisonment in addition to the unnecessary suffering of the injured parties.
Until recently, the traditional designs of drum handling equipment were the only ones available. Recent innovations - particularly with that most difficult task, safely removing drums from pallets - enable companies to provide equipment that enables drums to be moved safely, quickly and efficiently thereby meeting the legal requirements.
The problem is compounded by the huge range of drum designs in steel, plastic and fibre. Increasingly, drums are being manufactured as disposable items for transferring product in containers from one country to another. The thin gauge steel of some of these designs can lead to the drum tearing when lifted with a standard rim grip attachment but safe solutions are available.
For stuffing and de-stuffing international containers with drums, twin headed, fork mounted, rim grip drum handlers are available for fitting to fork trucks. This provides a fast, efficient and safe solution as two drum are handled on each occasion.
With over 25 years experience in materials handling our key personnel have the experience and knowledge to advise on a wide range of drum handling issues - safe methods of de-palletising, rotating and transporting are available.

In response to the needs of our customers we have now introduced a rental fleet. If you have the requirement but are still awaiting budget approval, many models can be hired for as little as one week. Equally, busy periods of production, special requirements of the maintenance department during shutdown or other one off operations can be catered for.
Drum handling applications are often unique. Restrictions on floorspace, overhead obstructions and difficult access are amongst the many problems encountered so we also offer a bespoke design service. If you have a requirement which doesn't seem to be covered by the models shown, please contact us, we're always happy to help.
All of our drum handling equipment is manufactured in the UK to exacting standards and is available with ATEX certification.
